About the Jackson Hole Area

Jackson, Wyoming, also known as Jackson Hole, is a year round destination. There are countless activities to fill your time while visiting Jackson. Whether you are coming to hike in Grand Teton National Park, drive around Yellowstone, or ski at any of Jackson Hole’s world class ski resorts, there is something for everyone.

Year Round Activities in Jackson Hole

In the summer, enjoy hiking, rock climbing, mountain biking, and sightseeing in Jackson Hole. If you didn’t bring transportation, you can rent a car or motorcycle nearby and drive around Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. There are several popular day hikes in Grand Teton. For a workout with a great view, hike up Snow King Mountain right in town and take in the incredible scenery. For an adventure, try whitewater rafting down the Snake River with one of the town’s many rafting companies.

If you’re visiting in the winter, Jackson Hole is a world-renowned skiing destination. If skiing isn’t your favorite activity, many outfitters offer snowmobiling trips, sleigh rides, snowshoe tours, dog sledding, and more. A sleigh ride at the National Elk Refuge will take you right up to the thousands of elk that gather here in the winter.

Events in Jackson

Jackson has events throughout the year. On Monday through Saturday from Memorial Day through Labor Day, come watch a re-enactment of a wild west shootout in the town square. Memorial Day and 4th of July are special celebrations with parades and activities. In the winter, enjoy the Town Square Lighting and visit Santa on the Square with your kids from December 15-24.
